One Stop opens temporary store to serve customers following fire

A Jefferson County convenience store has found a new way to keep serving customers following a fire that destroyed the business.

The One Stop Convenience Store opened a temporary store at its former location on Main Street in Reynoldsville.

Employee Kandy Bannon said the idea came up after a discussion on how they could keep serving the community.

"Everybody here cares about everybody," said Bannon. "Customers have been happy to have us back and the support has been overwhelming. They're excited for the new store, too."

The store is being run by the same employees who worked at the One Stop before the fire.

It offers many of the same items including coffee, snacks, soft drinks, cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The gas station was not affected by the fire and is also open.

The fire happened Jan. 22 around 2:15 p.m.

Officials said someone was working on the furnace when the fire broke out.

The fire caused approx. $200,000 in damage and was ruled accidental.

Officials said they're currently working with contractors for the new store. There's no word on when it will be up and running.
